A bakery with a 1,000-gallon underground storage tank (UST) used to store
gasoline formerly operated on-the property (Figure 2); the UST was removed in July
1988: A building occupies the northern and central portions of the property.
Motor vehicle fuels have been released to the subsurface from eight properties located in
the vicinity of the intersection of Charter Way and Lincoln Street. The extent of impacted
groundwater in the area surrounding the site has not been fully defined. A map of the site
vicinity is provided on Figure 3. Environmental investigations to assess subsurface
petroleum hydrocarbon impact.have been completed at the following nearby properties:
• A former Colombo Bakery(1444 South Lincoln Street),
• The City of Stockton Municipal Service Center (1465 South Lincoln Street),
• An active Chevron Station (508 West Charter Way),
• A former Texaco Station(active service station at 440 West Charter Way),
• A former Arco Station (441 West Charter Way),
• A transmission shop (515 West Charter Way), and
• . An operating Shell Station (620 West Charter Way).
SITE BACKGROUND
Historical Environmental Work Activities
Subsurface investigations and monitoring of groundwater were completed on behalf of
the former UST operator (Interstate Brands Corporation [IBC]) between 1997 and 2004,
under the direction of San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD)
personnel. Environmental work at the site is now being performed on behalf of the
current property owner, Mr. Timothy Kong, under the direction of the California Regional
Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB).
An initial subsurface investigation was completed at the site in February 1997. Three soil
borings (two on-site and one off-site) were advanced to depths ranging fr6m
approximately 26 to 40 feet below ground surface (bgs). Two of the borings were
completed as groundwater monitoring wells (MW-1 and MW-2) and one boring was
completed as a vapor extraction well(VW-1).
KATimothy Kong Prop rty\Worlk Plans\Konoa_.nayn8'Norii plal?.doc
