t 3 REGIONAL GEOLOGY AND HYDROGEOLOGY <br />' The site is underlain by the Lower Member of the Modesto Formation, which is of <br /> Pleistocene age Sediments of this formation consist of unconsolidated clay, silt, and sand <br /> (Wagner, et al , 1987) <br /> The site is in the Eastern San Joaquin County Ground-Water Basin (California <br /> Department of Water Resources [DWR], 1980) According to this reference, the <br />' groundwater basin has been developed for intensive irrigation and for domestic, industrial, <br /> municipal, and stock use The nearest surface water body is the Port of Stockton Water <br /> Channel, which is located approximately 1 mile north of the site <br />' Based on investigations conducted at the former ARCO service station, there are no <br /> municipal, domestic, or irrigation water-supply wells within 500 feet of the site Data <br />' obtained from the California DWR indicate there are six water-supply wells located within <br /> 1/2 mile of the site These wells are listed in Table 1 and are depicted on Figure 1 Some <br /> of the wells noted are probably inactive, and other wells may exist near the site but do not <br /> appear in the records Eleven groundwater monitoring wells are associated with the <br /> Texaco station, and seven monitoring wells are associated with the former ARCO station <br /> near the site <br /> SA(--\N'\PJZ\2605\26051010 l BS-97\cjb 2 E mcon <br /> 22605-101 001 3-1 Rev 0 8/4/97 <br />
