1 <br /> 1 2 BACKGROUND <br />' The site is located approximately 200 feet south of the intersection of Charter Way and <br /> Lincoln Street in Stockton, California On July 29, 1988, SEMCO of Modesto, California <br /> observed the removal of a 1,000-gallon UST Based on analytical results of soil samples <br />' collected from beneath the former UST, residual hydrocarbons were present Total <br /> petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHG) were detected at a concentration of 95 parts <br /> per nvlhon (ppm) Benzene and total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel, kerosene, and <br />' motor oil were below laboratory detection linuts The approximate tank location relative <br /> to site structures is shown on Figure 2 <br />' In the vicinity of the subject property is a former ARCO Service Station, a Chevron <br /> Service Station, a Texaco Service Station, The Transmission Shop, and a former Colombo <br /> Bakery, which all have had previously or currently have USTs (see Figure 3) Based on <br /> data collected from subsurface investigations performed at the former ARCO Service <br /> Station, the Chevron Service Station, The Transmission Shop, and the Texaco Service <br /> Station (located at the corners of Charter Way and Lincoln Street), residual and dissolved <br /> hydrocarbons have been detected beneath these facilities, and a commingled plume exists <br /> beneath Charter Way and Lincoln Street (see Figure 3) The groundwater flow direction <br />' near the intersection has generally been toward the east and northeast The main <br /> hydrocarbon constituent detected in groundwater is gasoline The groundwater plume has <br /> not been delineated, but it extends downgradient as far as Van Buren Street <br /> I <br /> 1 � <br /> I <br /> 1 <br /> %A(-'\N\PJ2\260526051010 IBS 97\cJh 2 EMCO(1 <br /> 22605-101 001 2-1 Rev 0 814197 <br /> I <br />
