(ARCADIS) has prepared this report to document environmental Phone:
assessment activities for Pacific Gas & Electric Company's (PG&E's) Lorraine 925.296.7825
Transformer T-1445 (the site) located at 8004 Lorraine Avenue in Stockton,
California. Work at the site was conducted in accordance with the approved Work Ercall:
Plan for Soil Investigation dated September 3, 2008(approved by email from Kathleen.Abbott
Margaret Lagorio October 22, 2008). @arcadis-us.cam
Our ref:
Background B00092297.0000
The site is an unstaffed PG&E subsurface transformer. On October 16, 2007, the
transformer over-pressurized and released an estimated 42 gallons of mineral oil into
the vault and an underground electrical conduit. A fire occurred as a result of the
transformer failure. PG&E and NRC Environmental Services performed emergency
response clean-up, including the removal of transformer oil and water from the vault
j and electrical conduit, as well as pressure washing the street near the transformer
and cleaning out a nearby catch-basin.
The oil from the transformer was sampled and contained less than one part per
billion (ppb)of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). The transformer vault is estimated
to be approximately 3 feet deep and during cleanup activities a small hole was
identified in the bottom of the transformer vault. Soil sampling was conducted to `
evaluate if mineral oil had impacted soil beneath and around the vault.
r1 Imagine the result
