Independent Trucking
- and the Delta Paper facility form rly occupied the Site .
k ' Two adjoining warehouses are located at the northeastern
portion of the Site. A trailer is located at the northwest
r- corner of the Site. One conveyor and shredder machine is
located at the western portion of the Site. One transformer
was located along the western perimeter of the Site.
2 .1 Background
A preliminary site investigation was performed by Advanced
GeoEnvironmental Inc _ (AGI) in July 1999 . A total of two soil
samples and three grab groundwater samples were collected from .
four borings at a depth of approximately 13 feet to 21 feet
below the existing ground surface . Based on the results of
the limited site investigation, it appeared that the
underlying sediments and groundwater at the northern portion
of the Site; and soil and groundwater located approximately at.
the central portion of the Site contained detectable
concentrations of total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) as
gasoline (TPHg) , TPH as diesel (T Hd) , and TPH as motor oil
(TPHo) . Additionally, the water reportedly collected within
the 550-gallon underground storag tank (UST) located at the
eastern portion of the Site contained elevated concentrations
of TPHg, TPHd, and benzene, tolue e, ethylbenzene, and xylenes
(BTEX) .
Bamer Construction Company remove the abovementioned 550-
gallon UST in September 1999 . Sol samples collected beneath
the UST and from the soil overlyi g the UST contained non-
detectable concentrations of TPHg, BTEX, and methyl tertiary-
butyl ether (MTBE) ; and low to nor-detectable concentrations
of lead. The soil sample collectEd beneath the pipeline
located directly adjacent to and East of the UST contained
non-detectable concentrations of ETEX, MTBE, and detectable
concentrations of TPHg and lead.
3
L .
