A total of
fifteen domestic wells were documented within a 2000-foot radius of the site. Two additional wells
were observed just outside the target radius. The report states that the average depth of these
wells is 168 feet below surface grade (bsg). The report recommends quarterly monitoring of a
deeper monitoring well installed on site, as well as monitoring the domestic well located on the
subject site.
The"Site Characterization Report'documents the installation of the deeper monitoring well (MW-
101) onsite, which took place on April 25, 2002, and the quarterly groundwater monitoring and
sampling event that took place on May 5, 2002. MW-101 was installed to a total depth of 34.5 feet
bsg. Initial sampling yielded no detections of petroleum hydrocarbons or fuel oxygenates in the
groundwater from this well. The report recommends continued quarterly groundwater monitoring
and sampling, and testing for biodegradation indicators.
SJCIEHD agrees with these recommendations. Quarterly groundwater monitoring and sampling
must continue at this site until directed otherwise by SJCIEHD, and should include the new well,
MW-101, and the on site domestic well. Testing for biodegradation indicators may be included in
the next routine event. if you have any questions or comments please call Lori Duncan at(209)
468-0337.
Donna Heran, RENS, Director
Environmental Health Department
(Z-L'c a ,
Lori Duncan, Senior REHS Nuel C.
