Page 4
' Groundwater Monitoring Report
Project No. 1030.2
• May 7,2003
' 2.0 FINDINGS AND DISCUSSION
Petroleum Hydrocarbons
' • MW-1 shows a historical reduction in all analyzed constituents.
• MW-2, MW-3, MW-101 and the domestic well were non-detect for all analyzed
constituents.
o MW-2, MW-3 and the domestic well have been non-detect for all analyzed
constituents since January of 1997.
o MW-101 has been non-detect for all analyzed constituents since installation and
' initial testing in May of 2002.
• With the exception of this quarter, fuel oxygenates, including MTBE, have not been
detected at this site since monitoring began in January of 1997.
' o MTBE was detected for the first time in MW-4. It is a trace amount and GTI
believes this may be due to sampling error. Future monitoring events will
determine the validity of the findings.
* TPH-G and BTEX constituents have only been detected in MW-1 and MW-4. Figure 4
is an interpretation of the migration of TPH-G at the site.
' Natural Attenuation Parameter (NAP) Results
Eight natural attenuation parameters were tested for as listed below.
1. Total Alkalinity (T Alk)
2. Iron (Fe)
3. Nitrate (NO)
' 4. Sulfate (SO')
S. pH
6. Temperature
7. Conductivity
8. Oxidation-Reduction Potential (ORP)
' The results are summarized in Table 4 of Appendix A, and the laboratory analytical data
reports are included in Appendix C.
' Data presented in Table 3 shows the following classifications of the wells for the current
monitoring data.
' • Wells considered near the center of the contaminated plume include MW-1.
• Wells considered to be near the margins of the plume include MW-101 & 4.
• Wells considered to represent background conditions include MW-2, 3 & domestic well.
The hydrocarbon analytical data correlates well with these classifications, with MW-1 being
the only impacted well.
' The followinggives r
table general g e g al cha actensttes of background conditions compared to
' conditions inside the plume.
