17 April 2000
AGE-NC Project No. 95-0100
' 3.2. HYDROCARBON-IMPACTED SOIL
A total of fifteen soil samples were analyzed for TPH-g, TPH-d, BTEX, MTBE and the suite of five
' fuel additives by EPA Method 8260 Modified.
• TPH-g and BTEX compounds were not detected in the fifteen soil samples analyzed.
' 0 The oxygenated fuel additive MTBE was detected three soil samples analyzed. Samples
collected from boring B 1 and B3 at depth of 50 feet and/or 55 feet bsg had detectable MTBE
' concentrations.
• Sample MWI-50 contained MTBE at 180 micrograms per kilogram (,ug/kg) by Method
8260. Soil sample MW 1-55 had detectable MTBE at a concentration of 7.6 4g/kg by Method
' 8260. ' 14
• Soil sample MW3-50 had detectable MTBE at a concentration of,1-4'fng/kg by Method 8020
' and 130µg/kg by Method 8260 Modified.
• No other oxygenated fuel additives were detected in soil samples:
Laboratory results of soil samples analyzed for petroleum hydrocarbons are summarized in Tables 1
and 2. The laboratory reports (MAI Laboratory ID 17933 to 17936 and 19820 to 19828), quality
' assurance and quality control (QA/QC) reports and chains-of-custody are included in Appendix E.
' 3.3. HYDROCARBON-IMPACTED GROUNDWATER
Two ground water samples have been collected on two separate dates and analyzed. Each sample
' was analyzed for TPH-g, BTEX, and fuel additives DIPE,'ETBE, MTBE, TAME and TBA.
• TPH-g was detected in the ground water samples collected from well MW-2 at a
' concentration of 140 micrograms per liter (,ug/l). Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total
xylenes were detected in the sample from well MW-2 at concentrations of 6.1µg/1, 16 µg11,
' 2.5 4g11 and 13 ug/l, respectively.
Neither BTEX compounds nor TPH-g were detected in the water sample collected from well
MW-1.
MTBE was detecfed in watersamples collected frortm-well IVIW=1 at eoncenfrationa of 120 ` T
,icgll and 97 µg11, by EPA Methods 8020 and 8260, respectively.
1
• Analytical results of ground water samples analyzed are summarized in Table 4. The laboratory
' reports (MAI Laboratory ID 17932 and 23389), quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC)
reports and chain-of-'custody forms are included in Appendices E.
Advanced GeoGnvironmental,Inc.
