t • LFR Inc.
' 1.0 INTRODUCTION
This report was prepared by LFR Inc. (LFR) on behalf of the California Integrated
' Waste Management Board for submittal to the Regional Water Quality Control Board
and presents the methods and procedures used to destroy groundwater monitoring well
MW-6 at the Tracy Tire Fire Site, located in San Joaquin County, California ("the
' Site"; Figure 1). The installation and construction details of well MW-6 are provided
in the report entitled "Additional Soil and Groundwater Investigation and Monitoring
Well Installation Report for the Tracy Tire Fire Site, Former Royster Tire Facility,"
prepared by LFR and dated April 6, 2006.
The Site consists of approximately 50 acres of land located between Teichert
' Aggregate and RMC Pacific Materials aggregate mining operations in Tracy,
California (Figure 1). The Site is located at 29425 South MacArthur Road (Section 9,
Township 3 south, Range 5 east of the Mount Diablo Base Meridian). The Assessor's
' Parcel Number for the Site is 253-120-26.
Well MW-6 was originally installed to assess groundwater quality in the northwest
' extent of the Site. Destruction of well MW-6 was necessary to remove pyrolytic oil-
affected soil that extended along the northwestern property boundary near the water
table. The excavation in the vicinity of well MW-6 was completed to the total depth of
approximately 125 feet below surface grade (approximately 5 feet below static
groundwater). The boundaries of the excavation extended beyond the northwestern
property boundary toward the abandoned railroad line and encompassed the location of
' well MW-6 (Figure 2).
This well destruction report includes the following:
' well construction details
a description of well sealing procedures completed prior to excavation
' a description of the well destruction during excavation
a copy of the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD)
Well Destruction Permit
a copy of the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) Well Completion
for Destruction Report
' 2.0 WELL DESTRUCTION
2.1 Permitting
Before well MW-6 was installed, a well installation permit (No. 43954) was granted
by the SJCEHD and a California DWR Well Completion Report (No. e030870) was
' rpt-well_desttuc[(mw6)-final-09025.tloc:LFR Page 1
