INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND <br /> Advanced GeoEnviron mental,Inc.(AGE)has been retained by Ms.Laura Maffei of Pacific State <br /> :3 Bank to perform a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment of the site located at 12470 Locke Road ` <br /> (subject property),Lockeford,California.The purpose ofthe Phase I Environmental Site Assessment <br /> was to identify and assess environmental characteristics of the subject property that could lead to <br /> i <br /> liability in the event of ownership,that could have a potential impact on property value,or that could <br /> .� impact the present or future use of the subject property. <br /> I <br /> The subject property is located southwest of the town of Lockeford on the southeast side of Locke <br /> Road, in an area of low to moderate topographic relief approximately 2,000 feet west of State <br /> Highway 88. Figure I .shows the setting of the property, which is in the southwest quadrant of <br /> Section 36,Township 4 North,Range 7 East,Mount Diablo Base and Meridian(Figure 1 -Location <br /> Map,7.5 MinuteUSGS Topographic Series,Lockeford Quadrangle,California-San Joaquin County, <br /> 1965,photo revised 1979).Elevation ofthe property is approximately 100 feet above mean sea level. <br /> The regional slope of the area is relatively gentle and dips toward the southwest. <br /> The subject property includes a cluster of seven buildings and associated structures of the former <br /> Lockeford Winery'at the northern end, and an approximately 1,000- by 600-foot vacant lot <br /> immediately south of the building complex. The property is recorded as Parcel 9,Page 32,Book 51 <br /> (APN 051-320-09) of the San Joaquin County Tax Assessor's Office (Figure 3). The prominent <br /> :4 features on the subject property are depicted in Figure 2; photographs of the property are provided <br /> in Appendix A. j r <br /> Land use of the surrounding sites is primarily commercial and industrial. <br /> 2.0. REGIONAL GEOLOGIC/IIYDROGEOLOGIC SETTING <br /> i The subject property is situated within the Great Valley Geomorphic Province of California,a large, <br /> 3 p p .� <br /> elongate, northwest trending, asymmetric structural trough. The Great Valley Province has been <br /> filled to its present elevation with thick sequences of sediment ranging in age from Jurassic to <br /> .3 Recent,creating a nearly horizontal alluvial plain, extending from the Tehachapi Mountains in the <br /> . south to the Klamath Mountains in the north. The western and eastern boundaries of this province <br /> are comprised of the California Coastal Ranges and the Sierra Nevada, respectively. Rocks <br /> composing the basement complex of the province have not been completely defined but are believed <br /> to be metamorphic and igneous in origin.
