26 July 2001
AGE-NC Project No. 01-0852
The EDR report, discussed below in Section 4.0, lists the dominant soil composition in the general
i area of the subject property based on information from the U. S. Department of Agricultures Soil
Conservation Service STATSGO (State Soil Geographic Database) soil maps. The soil surface
texture is listed as a fine sandy loam in a Class B Hydrogeologic Group;which are moderately well
and well drained soils with moderately coarse texture; infiltration rates in these soils are moderate.
The depth to bedrock is estimated to be more than 60 inches.
Three soil layers were described for the area of the subject property. The first soil layer extends from
0 to 19 inches and is classified as a fine sandy loam with a permeability rate range of 2.0 to 6.0
. inches per hour. The second and third soil layers extend from 19 to 45 inches and from 45 to 60
inches, respectively; both are classified as a fine sandy loam with a permeability rate range of 2.0
to 6.0 inches per hour.
The Modesto, Riverbank and Turlock Lake Formations and overlying recent alluvium are the
principal.source of domestic ground water in the 13,500-square-mile San Joaquin Valley Ground
Water Basin (Basin 5-22); the basin is drained primarily by the San Joaquin River. The nearest
y surface water features are the Mokelumne River at approximately 4,000 feet to the northwest and
Bear Creek at about 1 mile to the southeast.
} The estimated depth to ground water at the property is approximately 100 feet bsg, based on the map
titled Lines ofEqual Depth to Groundwater Spring 1999 published by the San Joaquin CountyFlood
1 Control District and Water Conservation District (FCD&WCD). It is inferred from the map titled
Lines of Equal Elevation of Groundwater Spring 1999, also published by the FCD&WCD, that
groundwater elevation at the property is between 5 to 10 feet below mean sea level.and the
s groundwater flows toward the southeast. Ground water is considered to be of beneficial use and is
utilized for domestic, industrial and ewiimercial purposes. r
:t
3.0. SITE HISTORY
The historyof the subject site from as early as 1937 to present was researched by reviewing historical
aerial photographs,building permits,regulating agency files,Assessor's Office records,oil and gas
maps, and personal interviews.
,n
3.1. REVIEW OF AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHS
Five aerial photographs;taken in 1937, 1952, 1963, 1975 and 1983 were reviewed at the SanJoaquin
:s
County Surveyors Office to study the developmental history of the subject property and the
3 Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
g
