Sanborn : Maps were analyzed to establish- a chronology of the <br /> occupants over the previous, 100. years . The northern subject <br /> property, was vacant in 1884 and residential from .1888 . to 1916 . <br /> The door shop property was residential from 1884 to 1895 . In 1908 <br /> the door shop property had become the Smith and Bryant Lumber <br /> yard , an,d in 1916 and 1925 it was -shown as the Valley Lumber <br /> Company . Records are not clear but it appears that the subject <br /> sites ,were first built as lumber y.ard'`s between 1895 and 1908 and <br /> between 1916 and 1926 , respectively .' <br /> A survey of the records of the City of Lodi -revealed that the <br /> facility at one time included two motoz vehicle fuel underground <br /> storage tanks . These tanks were removed in 1985 . The removal was <br /> permitted by the City of Lodi . Three soil bores were placed to <br /> determine if the soil under and around the removed tanks was <br /> contaminated . The bores were drilled to a depth of 20 feet below <br /> grade . Groundwater was not encountered in any of the bores . The <br /> analysis of samples takenj. indicated that the suspected <br /> contaminants were below detectab.le. or ` State action levels . <br /> These records are on file at4the CVRWQCB offices in Sacramento , <br /> California . <br /> Site! Surrounding Community Description <br /> The area surrounding the subject ., facility is commercial and <br /> residential (Figure 3 ) . The- northern property is bound on the <br /> east by 'a printing company and residences , on the north by East <br /> Lockeford Street and the' Southern' Pacific Railroad , on the south <br /> by a welding company and residences and on the west by Main <br /> Street. and a junked car lot . <br /> — 6 — <br /> y i <br />
