Sanborn : Maps were analyzed to establish- a chronology of the
occupants over the previous, 100. years . The northern subject
property, was vacant in 1884 and residential from .1888 . to 1916 .
The door shop property was residential from 1884 to 1895 . In 1908
the door shop property had become the Smith and Bryant Lumber
yard , an,d in 1916 and 1925 it was -shown as the Valley Lumber
Company . Records are not clear but it appears that the subject
sites ,were first built as lumber y.ard'`s between 1895 and 1908 and
between 1916 and 1926 , respectively .'
A survey of the records of the City of Lodi -revealed that the
facility at one time included two motoz vehicle fuel underground
storage tanks . These tanks were removed in 1985 . The removal was
permitted by the City of Lodi . Three soil bores were placed to
determine if the soil under and around the removed tanks was
contaminated . The bores were drilled to a depth of 20 feet below
grade . Groundwater was not encountered in any of the bores . The
analysis of samples takenj. indicated that the suspected
contaminants were below detectab.le. or ` State action levels .
These records are on file at4the CVRWQCB offices in Sacramento ,
California .
Site! Surrounding Community Description
The area surrounding the subject ., facility is commercial and
residential (Figure 3 ) . The- northern property is bound on the
east by 'a printing company and residences , on the north by East
Lockeford Street and the' Southern' Pacific Railroad , on the south
by a welding company and residences and on the west by Main
Street. and a junked car lot .
— 6 —
y i
