%two ` t.
.
SEACOR
SUMMARYOF PROPOSED REMEDIATION A
. G'I1VPI'IES ,...,
429 West Lockeford Street :
Lodi, California
prepared by:
SEACOR
100 Pine Street, Suite 2025_
San Francisco, California `_ ;'_._ • .
Two underground storage tanks (USTs) used to store gasoline were operated at a property located
at 429 West Lockeford Street in Lodi, California from the early 1960's until their removal in 1987.
At the time of their removal in 1987, soil samples from beneath the USTs were collected and ..=
chemically analyzed. The results of the chemical testing indicated that a release from one or both V
of the USTs had occurred. However, the amount of gasoline released could not be estimated. %
Subsequent subsurface investigations conducted in the vicinity of the UST's indicate that soils
underlying the UST's have been impacted by gasoline to a depth of approximately 35 feet below =-`
ground surface. In addition sampling and chemical analysis of groundwater indicates that
.Z'
groundwater directly underlying the USTs contains very low levels of gasoline constituents. - 1°
To reduce gasoline concentrations in subsurface soil and shallow groundwater, soil vapor extraction y ;
is proposed. Soil vapor extraction is a remediation technology applicable to volatile chemical`_
substances such as gasoline. To extract gasoline from the round, a vapor extraction well will be
g g g P
constructed in the vicinity of the former UST's. An electrical blower will then be hooked up to the
well to vacuum extract gasoline present in the subsurface. Air containing gasoline vapors removed
from the ground will then be treated with activated carbon to remove the gasoline prior to discharge 7 •
to the atmosphere. The vapor extraction system will be operated under a permit from the San
Joaquin County Air Pollution Control District.
During and following completion of soil vapor extraction, groundwater sampling and analysis will
continue on a quarterly basis. Following completion of vapor extraction, soil samples will be
collected and chemically analyzed to confirm a reduction in gasoline concentrations.
_.z
s
100 Pine.Street
bjgi+'n y
Sio ire 2025
Sdn Francisco, CA 94111
(-i1 5)296-:8 y'
(415) 677-9694 Fkl(
ts.
