01 June 1999
AGE-NC Project No. 99-0608
Page 2 of 6
• Permitting and pre-field work activities;
• Soil sample collection and analysis;
• Ground water sample collection and analysis;
• Calculation of the remaining hydrocarbons in soil (mass balance), if appropriate; and
• Report preparation.
3.1. SENSITIVE RECEPTOR/WELL SURVEY
As requested by PHS-EHD a sensitive receptor/well survey that documents the locations of all
agricultural, industrial, domestic, municipal and other wells within a 2,000-foot radius of the subject
site was performed on 18 May 1999. Two municipaUdomestic water wells and six monitoring wells
were located during the survey and were identified as described below.
3.1.1. Municipal Wells
The City of Ripon has established twelve wells. Five of the wells have been either abandoned or are
off-line due to high inorganic contamination. Seven other wells are operational and are tested or have
been tested for California Title 22 contaminants. Two wells are located within 2,000 feet of the site.
One well within the search radius is off-line due to high levels of total dissolved solids (TDS),
radioactivity, and nitrates. The second well within the search radius is located approximately 1,500
feet southwest of the site; the distance of the well from the subject site limits its potential to be
adversely impacted by the site.
3.1.2. Monitoring Wells
Six monitoring wells were identified within the specified radius of the site. The wells identified are
utilized for monitoring site specific impacts and pose limited potential of impacts from the subject
site (Appendix A).
3.2. PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES
Applicable site assessment permits will be obtained from the PHS-EHD. As required by PHS-EHD
permitting, a health and safety plan will be prepared in accordance with Occupational Safety and
Health Guidance Afanual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities (National Institute for Occupational
Advanced GeoEnvironmental.Inc.
