01 June 1999
AGE-NC Project No. 99-0608
Safety and Health Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency,
1985). Prior to mobilization, each soil probe location will be clearly marked and an utility clearance
obtained through Underground Service Alert.
3.3. SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
Initially, AGE proposes to advance one soil probe boring in the vicinity of the former UST to
evaluate the vertical extent of petroleum hydrocarbon impaction. The proposed probe boring location
is illustrated in Figure 2.
Total depth of the probe boring will be based on field observations and field screening using an
organic vapor meter(OVM)equipped with a photo-ionization detector(PID: Thermo Environmental
580A, 10.0 eV, calibrated to isobutylene).
Soil samples will be collected from the probe boring at five-foot intervals from ground surface to
the total depth of the boring. Field procedures for advancement of probe borings and collection of
soil samples are presented in Sections 4.1 and Section 4.2, respectively.
Selected soil samples will be analyzed by a California Department of Health Services (DHS)-
certified laboratory for the following constituents:
• TPH-g, TPH-d, and TPH-mo by EPA Method 8015 Modified/5030; and
• Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX) by EPA Method 8020.
Laboratory reports for soil analyses, testing methods, laboratory quality assurance/quality control
(QA/QC) reports, and sample chain of custody documentation will be presented in a report with
findings and recommendations.
3.4. IN-SITU GROUND WATER SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
During the soil assessment activities, grab ground water samples may be collected and analyzed from
the soil probe boring (Figure 2). In-situ ground water sample collection procedures are presented in
Section 4.3.
Selected groundwater samples will be analyzed by a DHS-certified laboratory for the following
constituents:
Advanced Gco£nironmental,Inc.
