Work Plan to Perform Subsurface Investigation
Keenes Corner,735 North Main Street,Manteca,California
Project No.05-001500
Task I
As required by SJEHD, this work plan has been prepared for review and
approval by SJEHD. Permits for soil borings will be completed and
submitted under-separate cover by the property owner. NWE will notify
underground utility locating services, contract with licensed contractors
(as required), and schedule field activities. As part of this task, NWE will
also prepare a site specific Health and Safety Plan for the subject site.
Task II
In the area between.the known locations of the former dispenser and USTs
(Figure 2),3 soil borings will be advanced to groundwater(suspected to be
present at or above 20 feet below-grade) using direct push methods. Soil
samples will be collected at,-5-foot vertical intervals from each soil boring
and,at the groundwater interface. Recovered soil samples will be..screened
in the field for the presence of organic vapors with a portable photo
ionization detector (PID).-- A groundwater sample will be collected from
each soil boring using a HydropunchTM (or similar) sampling assembly.
-After collection of groundwater samples, each soil boring -will be
abandoned by completely filling with bentonite chips and/or cement mixed
with bentonite. The surface will be patched with concrete or asphalt to
match the surrounding surface materials.
Task III
Submit selected soil samples (assume 1 sample from each boring) and
each groundwater sample collected for laboratory analysis. Samples will
be analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as ,gasoline (TPHg) using
EPA, Method Modified 8015, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total
xylenes (BTEX) using- EPA Method .602/8020, total petroleum
hydrocarbons as motor oil .(TPHm)-using EPA Method Modified 8015,
HVOCs using EPA Method 8010, and 5 Metals - Cadmium, Chromium,
Nickel, Lead, and Zinc using EPA Method 6010.
Task IV
Upon receipt of analytical results, site data will be compiled and evaluated
and a letter report prepared and submitted to the client for review. The
report will contain an assessment of sampled soil and groundwater.
I
