The work plan was submitted in response <br /> to the letter dated 6 June 2013 in which the EHD directed that the lateral delineation of soil <br /> contamination to the north, south, and west of the former underground storage tank (UST) area <br /> be addressed. <br /> In the work plan, AGE proposes to: <br /> • Advance three soil borings using Geoprobe technology to approximately twenty-five <br /> feet below surface grade (bsg) at locations illustrated on Figure 2 of the work plan to <br /> define the lateral extent of petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted soil; <br /> • Collect soil gas samples at ten feet bsg at the one soil boring proposed to be <br /> advanced north of the former UST area, in the loading dock area at 615 East Main <br /> Street, prior to advancing the borehole to total depth of approximately twenty-five feet <br /> bsg while collecting soil samples at five-foot intervals beginning at ten feet bsg; <br /> • Collect soil samples at five-foot intervals, beginning at five feet bsg, in the two <br /> boreholes advanced to the south and west of the former UST area unless field <br /> observations and contaminant concentrations detected from the organic vapor meter <br /> equipped with a photo-ionization detector warrant otherwise; <br /> • Collect soil gas samples in a one-liter Summa canister and sorbent tube using a <br /> Geoprobe soil-vapor assembly contained in a plastic shroud while administering the <br /> leak detector, isopropyl alcohol (IPA); <br /> • Analyze soil samples for total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) as gasoline (TPH-g), <br /> TPH as diesel (TPH-d), and TPH as motor oil (TPH-mo) by Environmental Protection <br /> Agency (EPA) Method 8015M; and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes <br /> (BTEX); napththalene, methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether <br /> (ETBE), tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME), di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), tertiary-butyl <br /> ether (TBA), ethylene dibromide (EDB), and 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) by EPA <br /> Method 82606; and <br />
