SNFT, N
ENVIRONMENTALTEC9iNOLOGIESCORPORATION ` e
November 10, 1997
14980
Ms. Mary Y Mea s
San Joaquin County Public Health
Services, Environmental Health Division
304 E. Weber Street, Third Floor
Stockton, California 95202
Subject: Workplan for Subsurface Investigation at 25411 Lone Tree Road, Escalon;
California
Dear Ms. Meays:
Smith Technology Corporation '(acquired by ATC Associates) has prepared this workplan, on
behalf of Rossetti's Market for the performance of a subsurface investigation at the above
referenced site. The purpose of the subsurface investigation is to determine the vertical and
horizontal extent of soil and groundwater contamination, if any, in the vicinity of the former
underground storage tanks (USTs). This work being done at the direction of San Joaquin County
Public Health Services Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD). The proposed scope of work
includes obtaining permits, advancing at least three soil borings, soil and groundwater sampling,
laboratory analysis of selected soil and groundwater samples; and preparing a summary report.
The scope of work is described in detail in the following paragraphs.
SITE LOCATION
The site is located on the north side of Lone Tree Road and the west side of Escalon-Bellota
Road in Escalon, California, as shown on Figure 1. The location is a commercial and agricultural
area and the site is currently occupied by Rossetti's Market.
BACKGROUND
In September 1987, one 1,000-gallon unleaded gasoline underground storage tank (UST), two
3,000-gallon unleaded gasoline'USTs, one 7,000-gallon leaded gasoline UST, and all associated
piping and dispensing equipment were removed and transported off-site. Laboratory analysis of
soil samples collected from beneath one of the former 3,000-gallon USTs location indicated the
presence of detectable concentrations total petroleum hydrocarbons. After the tanks were
removed, the areas of the former tanks were backfilled.
w:114980Vepottslwkp:doc 1
1260 Graphics Drive - Modesto,CA 95351-1502 (209)579-2221 Fax(209)579-2225
Engineering • Consulting Remediation Construction
