BACKFILLING OF EXCAVATION
i
On 29 September and 19, 20 October 1998, the tank excavation cavity was partially backfilled
utilizing approximately 300 tons of 5116-inch pea gravel supplied by Delcon Materials of Stockton,
California. Delivery receipts for pea gravel to the site are included as Appendix G.
On 27 October 1998, stockpiled soil in the area contai 'ng stockpile sample Nos. 3, 4 and 5 (See
Figure 2) was re-utilized to completely backfill the tank excavation cavity. Backfill material
achieved approximately 90 percent compaction utilizing a compaction wheel.
2.4. FORMER FUEL DISPENSER SOIL SAMPLE, COLLECTION
At the direction of the PHS-EHD,one soil sample was collected by Precision Envirotech Laboratory
on 13 November 1998 from beneath the former fuel ispenser island area. The soil sample was
collected by advancing a stainless steel hand auger to rve-feet bsg; brass sleeves and plastic caps
were utilized to preserve the sample. Analytical results of soil samples are summarized in Table 1.
Upon collection, each sample was logged on a chain- f-custody form, transported to PEAL in a
chilled container and analyzed for the following":
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as diesel(TPH-d)in accordance with EPA Methods
8015M/5030; and
Volatile aromatics(benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes: BTEX) in accordance with
EPA Method 8020;
The laboratory report (PEAL Lab Sample I.D. PE 685-01) and chains-of-custody forms are
presented in Appendix H.
2.5. UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK DISPOSITION TRACKING RECORD
In accordance with PHS-EHD guidelines, the UST Di&position Tracking Record is included with
Appendix I.
3.0. RESULTS OF LABORATORY ANALYSIS"
A total of fourteen soil samples were submitted to a stale-certified laboratory for analysis of TPH-d
Advanced CcoEnvironmental,Inc.
