BACKFILLING OF EXCAVATION <br /> i <br /> On 29 September and 19, 20 October 1998, the tank excavation cavity was partially backfilled <br /> utilizing approximately 300 tons of 5116-inch pea gravel supplied by Delcon Materials of Stockton, <br /> California. Delivery receipts for pea gravel to the site are included as Appendix G. <br /> On 27 October 1998, stockpiled soil in the area contai 'ng stockpile sample Nos. 3, 4 and 5 (See <br /> Figure 2) was re-utilized to completely backfill the tank excavation cavity. Backfill material <br /> achieved approximately 90 percent compaction utilizing a compaction wheel. <br /> 2.4. FORMER FUEL DISPENSER SOIL SAMPLE, COLLECTION <br /> At the direction of the PHS-EHD,one soil sample was collected by Precision Envirotech Laboratory <br /> on 13 November 1998 from beneath the former fuel ispenser island area. The soil sample was <br /> collected by advancing a stainless steel hand auger to rve-feet bsg; brass sleeves and plastic caps <br /> were utilized to preserve the sample. Analytical results of soil samples are summarized in Table 1. <br /> Upon collection, each sample was logged on a chain- f-custody form, transported to PEAL in a <br /> chilled container and analyzed for the following": <br /> • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as diesel(TPH-d)in accordance with EPA Methods <br /> 8015M/5030; and <br /> Volatile aromatics(benzene,toluene,ethylbenzene and xylenes: BTEX) in accordance with <br /> EPA Method 8020; <br /> The laboratory report (PEAL Lab Sample I.D. PE 685-01) and chains-of-custody forms are <br /> presented in Appendix H. <br /> 2.5. UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK DISPOSITION TRACKING RECORD <br /> In accordance with PHS-EHD guidelines, the UST Di&position Tracking Record is included with <br /> Appendix I. <br /> 3.0. RESULTS OF LABORATORY ANALYSIS" <br /> A total of fourteen soil samples were submitted to a stale-certified laboratory for analysis of TPH-d <br /> Advanced CcoEnvironmental,Inc. <br />
