In the work plan and letter CRA proposes to pressure grout the eleven on-
and off-site wells by first removing the wellhead vault and excavating approximately 2 feet in
diameter around the well casing to a depth of approximately three feet below surface grade using
an Airknife. Once the well casing is grouted using.a tremie pipe, the casing will be pressurized
for approximately 5 to 10 minutes; then approximately 2.5 feet of well casing will be removed
allowing 6 inches of casing to remain extending above the bottom of the excavation. Additional
grout will be placed in the casing and allowed to spill over into the excavation and fill the hole at
least six inches above the remaining well casing. EHD approves the work plan as described.
EHD has received one permit application for well destructions onsite and a check for $120 for i
permit fees for well destructions both on- and off-site. However, EHD still needs a permit
application for the destruction of off-site wells, MW-6A and MW-6B, along with an
encroachment permit from the City of Ripon. EHD understands the fieldwork is scheduled for
October 8-12, 2007, and will issue the permits once EHD receives the additional permit
application and a copy of the encroachment permit.
If you have any questions, please contact Vicki McCartney at (209) 468-9852 or by email at
II
vmccartney@sjcehd.com.
Donna Heran,REHS,Director
Environmental Health Department
Victoria L.McCartney, Senior REHS Margaret Lagorio,REHS
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV Program Coordinator Unit IV
c: Joe W.Neely, PG—Conestoga-Rovers&Asso.
James L.L.
