CAMBRIA `
July 11, 1997
Mr. Ron Rowe
Environmental Health Division
San Joaquin County Public Health Services
304 East Weber Avenue, 3`d Floor
Stockton, CA 95201-0388
Re: Investigation Work Plan
Shell Service Station 6)
341 Main Street
Ripon,California
WIC#204-6562-0804 dl'C10ru
Dear Mr. Rowe: n'1
As you requested in your June 6, 1997 letter, Cambria Environmental Technology, Inc. (Cambria)is
submitting this work plan for a subsurface investigation at the site referenced above on behalf of Shell
Oil Products Company. Our objective is to define the extent of hydrocarbons in soil beneath the site.
A brief site summary and our proposed scope of work for this investigation are described below.
SITE SUMMARY !
I
I
I
Cambria collected tank and product line removal samples in April 1996. No total petroleum
hydrocarbons as gasoline(TPHg) or benzene were detected in soil samples from beneath the USTs or
in all but one pipeline samples(see Figure 1). The area southeast of the southeast dispenser island was
the only place where TPHg and benzene were detected. The area was subsequently over-excavated to
a depth of 18 feet, which was the maximum depth possible with the equipment available: The
CAMBRIA excavation, sampling, and analytical results were summarized in Cambria's July 25, 1996 Tank
I
ENVIRONMENTAL Removal and Soil Sampling Report.
!
TECHNOLOGY,INC.
114465TH STREET, PROPOSED SCOPE.OF WORK
SuiTE B Based on the data from the tank and product line removal, one ground water monitoring well located
OAKLAND, in the immediate vicinity of the dispenser where TPHg was detected will be sufficient to define the
vertical extent of hydrocarbons in soil and determine whether hydrocarbons have impacted ground
CA 94608
water. If elevated hydrocarbon concentrations are detected in ground water after two quarters of
I"420-0700
FAY:(510)420-9170
