i
C A M B R I A August 17,Mr Ron
8owe 1998
underlain by a zone of silt and clay mixtures of low estimated permeability to
the total explored depth of 55 12 ft bgs (Attachment B)
Cambria prepared cross-sections based on the CPT boring logs The boring
log lrthology was simplified to differentiate between fine grained soils (silts,
sands, and the materials that the CPT logs included as cemented sand and stiff
fine gramed), and coarse grained soils,(sands and gravels) The cross-sections
are included as Figure 3
Pore Pressure Pore pressure dissipation tests were performed at four locations across the
Dissipation Tests site The data from the tests are plotted and included in the data package
' 4 from Gregg Drilling, which is included as Appendix B
I Chemical Analyses- Cambria submitted a total of fifteen soil samples for chemical analysis,
including nine samples from the source area boring CPT-1, and twenty
ground water samples for analysis, two from each boring The soil and
ground water samples were analyzed for TPHg, benzene, toluene, ethyl
benzene, and xylenes, (BTEX) by EPA Methods 8015/8020 at a California
certified laboratory The samples were also analyzed for oxygenated fuel
additives Methyl tert-Butyl Ether (MTBE), Tertiary Amyl Methyl Ether
(TAME), dr-Isopropyl Ether (DIPE), Ethyl tert-Butyl Ether (ETBE), tert-
Butanol, and ethanol using EPA Method 8260 Methanol was analyzed by
EPA Method 8015 (modified) Samples were analyzed for fuel lead
scavengers EDB and EDC by EPA Method 8010
Soil Physical Analyses: Based on Cambna's work plan and field observations, soil samples from the
following depths were selected for physical analysis 34 5 ft bgs and 32 5 ft
bgs from CPT-1,42 0 ft bgs from CPT-3, and 40 0 ft bgs from CPT-8 The
soil samples were analyzed for permeability, porosity, density, and organic
I carbon content The results of the analyses will be sent to the SJCPHS as a
report addendum, when they are available
ISoil Disposal: Soil cuttings produced from the boring installations were stockpiled and
sampled for disposal Upon review of the analytical results, Shell will
arrange for transportation of the stockpile to an approved drsposal/recychng
facility
IBackfill Method Boring locations were backfilled with cement grout and capped with asphalt
patch for the top six inches to match the existing grade
Fe
I3
