•.. N../
City of Stockton, Fire Station No. 12 A68105.01
August 7, 1995 Page 5
soil boring B-2 were selected for laboratory analysis. In soil borings B-3 and B-4, samples
collected at 10, 20, and 30 feet BSG were selected for laboratory analysis.
After completion of the soil sampling, the soil borings were backfilled with a sand/cement
slurry. The slurry was pumped through the annulus in the hollow-stem augers. Backfill was
placed in one continuous operation from the bottom to the top of the borehole. When the
annulus filled with the slurry, auger flights were removed (no more than 15 feet at a time)
from the borehole, allowing the slurry to uniformly fill the borehole to the surface.
• Soil cuttings and decontamination rinsate generated during drilling were stored on site
within the fenced parking area in Department of Transportation-approved, sealed,55-gallon
drums. Disposal of this material is addressed in Section 8.0 Recommendations. Final
- disposal/treatment of these materials is the responsibility of the client.
4.2 Laboratory Testing Program: Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and Xylenes (BTEX)
and total petroleum hydrocarbons for both gasoline and diesel ranges (TPH-G and TPH-D)
were used in the laboratory testing program as indicator parameters. Preparation and
analytical methods for the laboratory analyses are summarized in Table 2.
..
cAsts:z .::...
.. .;.
PREPARATION:AND ANAGYTICAI MEIIIODS
... ................. ............ ..I...... _....... . :.:.. ..
Detection limit for
Type of Analysis Preparation Method Analytical Method Reporting Purposes
mg/kg
V
Benzene,Toluene,Ethylbenzene,and 50301 80201 0.005
Xylenes
Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons- 5030 GC/FID2 1.0
r Gasoline Range
Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons-Diesel 35401 GC/FID2 2
Range
r
GC/FID = Gas Chromatography/Flame Ionization Detection
r
1 United States Environmental Protection Agency,1983
2 California State of,Leaking Underground Fuel Tank Task Force,October 1989
Twining is a California Department of Health Services certified hazardous waste laboratory
(Certificate No. 1371) for the analyses outlined herein.
