J. Hunter & Associates prepared a revised:work plan for the Marci's
Diesel Service site at the request of Margaret Lagorio of SJC PHS/EHD. On March 2, 2000,
Geological Technics Inc. (GTI) prepared an addendum to this work plan to clarify some
inconsistencies and to make the field work more cost effective. On March 10, 2000 Ms Carol Oz
of SJC PHS/EHD denied the work plan claiming it contradicted the original work plan and
required that a new work plan be prepared. A new work plan was prepared on.March 21, 2000
by GTI and approved by Ms Oz on March 29, 2000.
On behalf of John and Margaret Marci, Geological Technics Inc. has prepared the following Cost
Pre-Approval for additional site characterization work.
Summary of Work to Date
In March of .1987 two 5,000-gallon diesel .USTs were removed from the site. Soil samples
collected after tank removal and during the next year showed the presence of petroleum
hydrocarbons in the soil.
In April of 1992 three groundwater monitoring wells-were installed at the site to depths of 84 to
89 feet bgs. Soil and groundwater samples showed the presence of BTEX and TEPH-D.
In May of 1996 a soil boring was advanced through the center of the former tank pit. BTEX,
TPH-G and TEPH-D were detected in the soil samples collected down to a depth of 80 feet bgs.
In March of 1997 SJC PHS/EHD requested the installation of an additional monitoring well.
This well (MW-4) was installed in September of 1997. Soil and water sampled showed the
presence of TPH-G and TEPH-D.
