I
i
JOHN AND MARGARET MARCI '
PAGE 2
Three from each boring is not adequate. Please analyze
sufficient soil samples so that a mass volume of contaminants at
the site can be determined and a computer fate and transport
model can be performed. Soil samples should also be analyzed for
site specific modelling parameters, such as bulk density,
porosity and organic carbon content . The final number of soil
samples to be analyzed should be based on field conditions and
should be discussed with PHS/EHD staff before submittal .
Field work can proceed, taking into consideration the above noted
changes, after a permit to drill is issued by this office.
Please submit a completed permit application and the associated
$89 . 00 fee to this office .by December 11:, 1995 .
The results of this. phase of field work should present the full
environmental impact at the site. The need and extent of
remedial intervention will be determined by the volume and
ultimate fate of the contamination identified at the site. Vent
test wells installed at the site, if conditions warrant, will
provide feasibility and long term cost information. All this
information should be submitted in a Corrective Action Plan
(CAP) , as specified in Title 23, Chapter 16, Article 11, the
Corrective Action Regulations (see enclosed copy) . Please submit
a CAP for this site 60 days from the completion of the field
work.
If you have any questions or wish to discuss this letter in more
detail, please contact Linda Turkatte, Senior RENS, at (209) 468-
3441 .
I
I
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Linda A.
