Aug. 31 . 1994 - All three wells sampled; all ND. Nov. 21 . 1994 - All three wells sampled; MW-1 had small amount of TPH-D, other wells ND. There have been 25 groundwater gradient measurements taken since April 1992 . As can be seen on PLATE III , .'the directions have been widely divergent. Stati'stically, there are more gradients in a southerly direction, but the significance of that fact is unknown. On January 6 , 1995 , WJH submitted a quarterly groundwater monitoring report covering work done in November, 1994 . Based upon the large amount of data collected over the past 2 1/2 years , that firm believed that it had been demonstrated that there was no threat to groundwater at this location, and site closure was recommended. Refer to that report for more complete details. On February 3 , 1995., Linda Turkatte, Sr. REHS from the San Joaquin County EHD responded Ao that report, stating that site closure could not be approved until an attempt is made to remediate the minor amount of soil contamination present. Refer to EXHIBIT A for a copy of that correspondence. A deadline of April 3 , 1995 was given for submittal of a workplan to perform the required work. It has been agreed that further groundwater monitoring is unnecessary, and is being discontinued. Additional testing and sampling may be needed after''completion of the work in order to evaluate the success of the project. PRELIMINARY WORKPLAN FOR ATTEMPTING SOIL REMEDIATION: Proposals are being prepared for submittal to qualified environmental firms for complying with the Countys' request. That package will include the following information: 1 . Brief background of events that have occurred to date on the .site. 2 . Summaries of all laboratory analyzes performed, together with gradient direction data. 4 I':
