(GTI). Based on their conclusions noted below, GTI
recommends that additional subsurface investigation is needed and proposes to advance seven cone
penetrometer testing(CPT)borings to aid in the data gap lithologic profile.
The geological parameters are not completely understood since the standard practice of
sampling soil at five-foot intervals leadsto an incomplete vertical profile.
• The lithologic units between borings do not correlate well.
• The transport mechanisms/pathways for contaminant migration presented in the SCM
may be flawed due to the lack'of lithologic correlation between the individual boreholes.
EHD agrees that additional subsurface investigation of the contamination will be necessary to
address the data gaps. Please submit a work plan to EHD by March 3, 2005, for the advancement of
the seven CPT borings at this site.
EHD approves removal of 1,2-dichloromethane (1,2-DCA)'land 1,2-dibromorethane.(EDB) from
the analytical list of compounds•tested each quarter since these compounds have not been detected
in any groundwater samples collected during the second and third quarter 2004 groundwater
monitoring events.
Please contact Vicki McCartney at (209) 468-3456 or vmccartney(a>,sjcehd.com if you have any
questions.
Donna Heran,REHS,Director
Environmental Health Department
Vicki McCartney,REHS Nuel C.
