A hydropunch type
sampler will be used on the end of the drill rods to obtain samples at depths to be
determined in the field. The sampler is attached to the end of the drill rods and then
advanced to the targeted depth. When the targeted depth is achieved, the rods are
retracted 12 — 18 inches to allow a screened portion of the.rods to be exposed and water
to enter. A water sample will then be obtained from inside the rod column by lowering a
small diameter bailer into the rods. Water samples will then be transferred from the bailer
to the VOA container for transport to the laboratory. Care will be taken to .minimize
sample agitation from the initial filling of the bailer to the transfer of the sample to the
VOA vial..A description and schematic of the process is included in Appendix B.
r
4: 3.5 Water Sample.Analyses
A maximum of three groundwater samples from each borehole will be submitted,to a state
certified laboratory for the analysis of:
• Benzene,toluene,ethyl benzene and xylene'(BTEX)by EPA method 602/503.0
• Gasoline range petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH-G)by EPA method 5030/8015(m)
• Total Extractable Petroleum Hydrocarbons by EPA method 8015M
The detection limits for these compounds are listed below. A Chain of Custod will be
P Y
completed for all samples collected and tracked to ensure sample integrity.
Detection Limits: TEPH-D BTEX TPH-G
Water(µ ) 50 0:370..6 50
L 4.0 SCHEDULE & REPORTING
Geological Technics Inc. anticipates beginning fieldwork no later than 30 days after work
4• plan approval; cost pre-approval, from the USTCFP and issuance of the
encroachment/monitoring well permits.
The information gathered during this phase of work (CPT installation) will be resented in
P P
,/ the updated Site Conceptual Model (SCM) report..
