In November of 2002.soil samples were obtained from beneath the gasoline dispenser islands <br /> at the site. A minor amount of MTBE(0.09 mg/kg).-was detected in soil sample "D-3". <br /> In a letter dated October 17; 2003 Cardoza Enterprises was directed by San Joaquin County <br /> Environmental Health Department to submit 'a work plan to determine the vertical and . <br /> horizontal extent of the contamination(see Figures 1 &2). <br /> 2.0 PROPOSED INVESTIGATION <br /> To further investigate the extent of soil and, groundwater impacted with gasoline range <br /> petroleum hydrocarbons, Geological Technics' Inc. proposes to install three (3) GeoProbe <br /> boreholes (GP4 through GP-3) collect soil and groundwater samples, and -analyze .these <br /> samples for petroleum hydrocarbon compounds. <br /> {•,= The proposed locations.of-the GeoProbes are illustrated in Figure 2. The locations are <br /> intended to define the extent of the soil plume and to-determine if groundwater has been <br /> impacted by the release. The actual location of the probes will be selected in the field, as <br /> numerous utility lines exist below ground surface at the site. <br /> 2.1 GeoProbe/Hydropunch Survey <br /> +� Soil Core Sampling <br /> Three GeoProbe boreholes will be drilled as indicated in.Figure 2 to a maximum depth of 35 <br /> feet below grade surface. Soil samples will be collected at five-foot intervals down to the <br /> capillary fringe. <br /> The boreholes will be drilled with a GeoProbeFrig owned and operated by V&W Drilling of <br /> Isleton, CA (C57# 720904). The GeoProbe advances a coring tool with a pneumatic hammer <br /> to a selected depth. Upon reaching that depth the coring tool is opened and,advanced further <br /> 1 <br />
