C A M B R I A
September 8, 2004
Ms.Lori Duncan G ti L
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
304 East Weber Avenue,Third Floor $E (1 u4
Stockton,California 95202
Re: Well Destruction Report pEp;,;;
Shell-branded Service Station
7910 Lower Sacramento Road
Stockton, California
SAP Code 136139
Incident No. 98996180
SJCEHD Site Code 1660
Dear Ms.Duncan:
Cambria Environmental Technology, Inc. (Cambriay prepared this report on behalf of Equilon
Enterprises LLC dba Shell Oil Products US to document the recent destruction of three
groundwater monitoring wells (MW-1 through MW-3) at the referenced site. This work was
performed in response to the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department's
(SJCEHD's) May 25,2004 letter, which recommended the destruction of existing site wells in
order to proceed with case closure. Well destructions were performed to comply with SJCEHD
and California Well Standards Well Destruction Guidelines.
Site Description
The site is an operating service station located on the northeastern corner of the intersection of
Lower Sacramento Road and Hammer Lane in a commercial area of Stockton, California
(Figure 1). The site layout consists of a service station building, three dispenser islands, three
existing underground fuel storage tanks(USTs), and a former fuel UST complex(Figure 2).
Monitoring Well Destructions
Cambria obtained SJCEHD well destruction permit No. 38527 (Appendix A). On July 2, 2004,
Cambria field staff observed Gregg Drilling and Testing, Inc. (Gregg) of Martinez, California
Cambria destroy wells MW-1 through MW-3 by pressure-grouting. The well casings were filled with neat
Environmental cement grout from the bottom up. Once the casings were filled with grout, pressure seals were
Technology,Inc. placed on top of the well casings and additional cement grout was pumped under pressure into
IsPerkins Street the well casings. This forces the grout through the well screens out into the filter pack material.
P 0 Box 259
Sonoma,CA 95476
Tel(707)935-4850
Fax(707)935-6649
