Soil
samples from the bottom of the tank pit were collected and analyzed by GeoAnalytical
Laboratories, Inc. of Modesto, CA. Results of the analysis evidenced petroleum hydrocarbon
contamination of 19 parts per million (ppm) total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg)
and 280 ppm TPH as diesel.
In PHS/EHD correspondence dated July 21, 1997 notification was made that this site had been
assigned to the PHS/EHD Local Oversight Program (LOP). The LOP provides oversight of
assessment and clean up activities at contaminated underground storage tank sites.
Notification was also made that a work plan to begin the investigation of the vertical and lateral
extent of contamination at this site should be submitted to PHS/EHD by September 4, 1997. To
date no work plan has been received by PHS/EHD.
Please submit to PHS/EHD the requested work plan to begin the investigation of the vertical
and lateral extent of contamination at this site by May 17, 1999.
