1.0 INTRODUCTION
• Park Environmental Corporation (Park) has been ret
amed by Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue to
conduct a site assessment of a gasoline hydrocarbon plume at the prior Diamond Lumber facility
( Site) in Manteca, California, presently owned by 650 Management Corporation. The Site 2s
located at 151 South Main Street, Manteca as shown on Figure 1.
Several phases of soil and groundwater assessments have been conducted at the site. To date, six
monitoring wells have been installed at the site. Three wells were installed by Blymer
Engineering, Inc. (BEI) in 1989, and the remaining three wells were installed by Steffen,
Robertson and Kirsten (SRK) in 1991. The locations of the wells are shown on Figure 2.
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD), in their
letter dated July 7, 1994, has concurred with Park's proposal to install two monitoring wells on
the Southern Pacific Railroad (SPRR) property to obtain up gradient information on the gasoline
hydrocarbon plume affecting the Diamond Lumber property. Additionally, PHS/EHD agrees with
the proposed quarterly monitoring program proposed by Park.
1.1 Purpose
The purpose of this investigation is to delineate the up gradient portion of the hydrocarbon plume
Tasks described in this work plan include the following.
Install two (2) groundwater monitoring wells off-site
• g g
• Collect and analyze soil samples from off-site monitoring well bonngs,
• Verify groundwater flow direction and hydraulic gradient,
• Collect and analyze water samples as part of the quarterly groundwater monitoring
program;
• Conduct vapor treatability testing in the three on-site BEI wells, and
• Document findings
1.2 Scope of Work
The scope of work to be performed by Park includes the following
• Prepare a Site Safety plan,
• Obtain information on pipelines present on the SPRR property;
• 50223J2 1
