rDiamond Lumber Manteca Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring Page 1 <br /> 1.0 INTRomc ION <br /> Steffen Robertson and Kirsten (US) Inc (SRK) has been retained by the 650 Management <br /> Corporation (current management of Diamond Lumber, Inc ) to perform the quarterly groundwater <br /> monitoring of three monitoring wells installed by SRK and three monitoring wells installed by <br /> Blymyer Engineers Inc (BEI), at the Diamond Lumber facility located at 151 South Main Street, <br /> Manteca, California The Scope of Work includes sampling six groundwater monitoring wells to <br /> investigate the potential for groundwater contaminant migration from an underground storage tank <br /> location from which a tank or tanks were removed in 1985 The three groundwater monitoring wells <br /> were installed by SRK in November, 1991, under the direct guidance of Ms Margaret Lagono,Senior <br /> REHS, San Joaquin County Public Health Services/Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) <br /> Specific information regarding subsurface soil conditions and monitoring well construction details is <br /> presented in SRK's Phase II Environmental Audit Report for this site dated December 1991 The <br /> original three groundwater monitoring wells were installed by BEI on November 15, 1989 in an area <br /> near the presumed UST location A copy of the BEI report is included as an appendix in SRK's <br /> Phase II Environmental Audit Report (December 1991) <br /> ' This report addresses the sampling event completed on August 31 1992 The quarterly groundwater <br /> sampling activities were performed by fully qualified SRK professionals under the technical guidance <br /> and direct supervision of Rob D Gwilym, an Environmental Geoscientist and registered <br /> Environmental Professional (NAEP 1792) also registered as an Environmental Assessor in California <br /> (0035), and certified by the American Institute of Professional Geologists (4529) Geologic and <br /> hydrogeologic aspects were completed under supervision and guidance of Greg W Knell, California <br /> Registered Geologist 4692 <br /> �• k EDG O <br /> ' U, - <br /> cC RECORYW KNEtl <br /> CP 10 4692 <br /> d y Ari OF C AL�F��� <br /> RL <br /> 2-0 BACKGROUND IN>+ORMATyIb F <br /> 1989 <br /> On August 3, 1989, Blymyer Enginecrs, Inc (BEI), conducted an environmental site assessment of <br /> the Diamond Lumber lac.ihty No evidence of existing USTs was observed The Blymyer report <br /> states that one 500 gallon gasoline UST had been removed from the site in 1985 Soil samples were <br /> collected at the time of removal, but an unknown quantity of contaminated soil associated with the <br /> product piping was observed and removed Site personnel also stated that a second UST (size and <br /> former contents unknown) was also removed concurrently with the 500 gallon UST <br /> ' BEI installed a test hole in the former UST location on November 15, 1989 The boring was <br /> advanced to a depth of 25 feet, with soil samples collected at 5-foot intervals Analytical soil sample <br /> r Sterfen Robertson and Yursten <br /> J=}W T•\J 9l 1 <br />
