November 9, 2005
NCA Project Number: E05132C
2) Emergency Treatment. In the event of an emergency, a member of the team will
dial 911 and follow the instructions of the operator. In the event that a non-
emergency injury occurs to any or all of the team, they will be transported to the
nearest hospital that provides emergency room services (Dameron Hospital, 525
West Acacia Street, Stockton, 209-944-5550).
3.0 SOIL SAMPLING PROCEDURES
3.1 Drilling Details
All drilling activities will be performed by NOA.
3.1.1 Drilling Method
The boring(s) in the vicinity of the adjacent former underground storage tank will be advanced with
a 3- or 4-inch diameter hand auger. The soil cuttings brought to the surface will be examined and
placed on plastic. Disposal will be based on the analytical results.
3.1.2 Logging Methods
A geologist will log the subsurface soil conditions encountered at each boring. The soil materials
encountered will be logged consistent with the Unified Soils Classification System. Representative
soil samples may be collected and placed into sealed containers for further analysis as necessary.
3.1.3 Boring Abandonment
All borings will be sealed and abandoned in accordance with EHD requirements. A representative
of the EHD may be present to approve all grouting activities.
3.2 Soil Sample Collection Method
Surface soil samples for agricultural chemical and fuel constituents will be collected directly into
clean stainless steel tubes or by scooping with a stainless steel trowel into glass containers. If a
trowel is used,it will be decontaminated by washing with a solution of potable water and Liquid-
Nox solution or equivalent prior to collecting each sample.
Soil samples collected from the vicinity of the adjacent former underground storage tank will be
collected with a hand auger equipped with a clean stainless steel sampling tube. If more than one
sample is collected, the hand auger will be decontaminated by washing with a solution of potable
water and Liquid-Nox solution or equivalent prior to collecting each sample.
After collection, the samples will be placed on ice inside an insulated storage chest and transported
promptly under chain-of-custody to the analytical laboratory.
3 '.444
