PUBLIT HEALTH SERVICES
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY ?`
y: Q
(OGI KHANNA M.D.,M.P.H.
Health Officer P
oqi a;
P.O. Main
Manteca, CA 95336
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD)
has received a request from your consultant, William J. Hunter, for an update on
laboratory results of water samples from the Manteca Bean monitoring wells 10 and 14.
Please be advised that PHS/EHD has a file review procedure and that your information
can be updated through that process or through direct contact with Manteca Bean.
In addition Mr. Hunter stated that any contamination from the former underground
tanks at the above referenced site would have been detected in these downgradient
monitoring wells in the four years since the tanks were pulled. As discussed in a meeting
you attended on May 20, 1991 with PHS/EHD staff, "Tri-Regional Board Staff
Recommendations" state that if gradient can be determined from an adjacent site a
monitoring well should be installed within 10 feet of the former tank location in the
verified downgradient direction. Since Manteca Bean monitoring wells are not within ten
feet of your former tank pit it must be justified with site specific data (rate of
groundwater movement) that any contamination from the tanks previously located on
your site would have been detected in the Manteca Bean monitoring wells by this time.
If you have any questions contact Margaret Lagorio, Senior REHS, at (209) 468-3449.
Jogi Khanna, M.D., M.P.H.
Health Officer
Laurie J Co ulla, RE S, Program Manager
Environmental Health Division
LAC/ML:lb
c: William J.
