There was no evidence oi' contamination, and on odor
or staining. Laboratory analysis shoVlF:d the sample to be below
reporting limits for all tested components, (see Table i for
details. )
June 27, 1989 - Thorpe Cil Co. submitted a Soil Re-excavation &
x Resample Work Plan to re-excavate the west portion of the
6 original hale and collect 4 sidewall samples at 10' and one
bottom sample at 14'; (refer to Exhibit A)
July 25, 1989 - San Joaquin Local Health District responded to
workplan, outlining necessary steps that must be taken; (refer to
Exhibit B)
t
August 1, 1989 - Thorpe Cil excavated the west end of the hale
that had been dug an Nov. 9, making a hale 8 feet X 8 feet X 14
feet deep;. (see Exhibit C. ) Four (4) sidewall soil samples were
taken :by Canonie Laboratory personel with brass tubes on each of
the walls at a depth of 10', and one (1) sample was taken from
the bottom of the excavation, also by Canonie personel. Samples t
were collected and transported under Draper chain of custody, s
with instructions to test for BTX&E, EBD, TPH-G, & TEH (EPA
Methods 8015. & 8020,) and organic lead, (Method DHS 7420. ) The
excavated. soil, (approximately 33 cubic yards,) was returned to
t the hole.
August ib, 1989 - Laboratory analysis an the above samples showed
that BTX&E, EDB, TPH-G, and organic lead were all below reporting
limits, (Table 2)
September 7, 1989 - Laboratory report from Canonie Labs revealed
that-, only the sidawall sample from the west side of the
excavation showed detectable levels of TEPH, as tested by EPA
Method 8018. That sample showed a concentration-of _-110-m
— 9 - - --
wh zta reporting limit of 10 mg/kg; (Table 2)
September le, 1989 The excavation was reentered again by Thorpe
Cil, and another samples . was collected by Canonia Environmental
µ; under Chain Df Custody at approximately the same location as the
one discussed above.
