The samples were taken by brass tube from the teeth <br /> of the backhoe bucket. All excavated soil was returned to the hole <br /> -- as no discoloration or odor was found at any point during re-excavation. <br /> The amount of excavated soil was estimated to be 33 cubic yards. The <br /> samples were tested as shown on the enclosed copy of Minimum Verification <br /> Lab Analyses (highlighted areas). The results of the soil analysis, <br /> Canonie Environmental , Laboratory report number 85-052-7386, dated <br /> August 16, 1989, marked "D" and Laboratory report number 85-052-7530, <br /> dated September 7, 1989, marked "E", determined the excavation, to be free <br /> from any contaminati n, except the sample taken at ten feet from the <br /> sidewall on the west end of the excavation. This sample showed 110. mg/kg <br /> Total Extractable Petroleum Hydrocarbons. Consequently, another sample <br /> - was taken by Jim Thorpe Oil, Inc. and Canonie Environmental on September <br /> 18, 1989 from the same area, i.e. ten feet in depth,on the west end of <br /> the excavation. This sample showed "Not Detected" for Total Extractable <br /> Petroleum Hydrocarbons, see Canonie Environmental , Laboratory report <br /> number 85-052-7643, dated September 20, 1989, marked "F". <br /> M <br />
