t;.
i
fi
DEPTH TO GROUNDWATER: Accor—no to the a to Jca.uin Co. i ood
Control District water table map, !Plate L ,.> the ❑epth to
groundwater was about 22' bgl in the spring of 1991. .dater level
measurements taken in February, 1992 in monitoring wells #l() &.
#14, just north of the property, also showed a depth of about
bgl. Water levels in the area had been indicated to be as high as
10' bgl in the spring of 1951 cy 1986.
LOCATION OF MUNICIPAL & MONITORINS WELLS: Plate V indicates the
approximate locations of identified municipal and monitoring
wells in the area. The city wells vary in depth from 144D to 180
feet, with casing seals below 100 feet. There are three ground-
water monitoring wells located at 470 No. Main St. , (beacon Oil
Co. , ) an 14 located on and adjacent to the planned soil `< ground-
water remediation project at 229 Moffat Blvd. .. immediately to the
north of this property. Plate Viz is a larger scale map showing
the location of those wells.
_ PRIOR USAGE OF REMOVED TANKS: The 55U gai 11 on tank, had
contained regular leaded gasoline, but had been out of service
since about 1922. There are no records concerning amounts of
fuel stored, or any history of spills.
The 2,000 gallon UST, (##335,) had been used for storing diesel
fuel. There are no records available concerning quantities used
or possible spillage. The tank was empty when pulled, and
according to the trustee for the Estate, had not been used for at
least 5 years. Plate Vill shows the approximate locations of the
two tanks in reference to the surrounding area.
t SUMMARY OF PRIOR WORK: Can November 9, 1968, Thorpe Oil Co.
removed the empty, 2,000 gallon UST previously used for storing
diesel fuel. A soil sample was taken from each end of the exca-
vation at a depth of 14 feet, and since there was no evidence of
contamination, the excavation was filled with clean soil and the
removed spoil.
The soil samples were tested for b3'EX, TPH-G, EDB, & organic
lead as instructed by the San Joaquin Co. Environmental Health
Division. Laboratory results revealed only minor amounts of
TPH-G; (refer to Table i & Exhibit- 8 for more details. )
On February 17, 1989, Thorpe Oil removed the empty 5501 gallon UST
(#355,) from the west end of the property; it 's approximate
location is shown on Plate V71I. As mentioned above, it had been
used to store regular gasoline, but had been out of service for
several years. one (1 ) soil sample was tsi:es from undisturbed
sail beneath the tans: and tested for BTEX, EDB, TEPH, ': total
J
