P
r
zt !
.77
property at 229 Moffat, only one (1) well would be needed; it
should be placed within 10 -Feet of the removed 21009 gallon UST
in a down gradient direction. Refer to Exhibit J for a copy of
that letter.
On May 20, i991, a meeting was held with the County EHD staff to
review the status of the project, and discuss options. The
County stated that their position had not changed, and that a
F groundwater investigation would still be required. Due to the
shallow depth of the water table, and the possibility of contam-
ination from the UST, they would not issue a closure letter
without the required work being done_
A letter from the EHD dated June 22, 1992, further clarified the
County's staff position concerning the need for a monitoring
well ; refer to Exhibit K for a copy of that letter. A workplan
to accomplish that requirement follows.
PROPOSED WORKF"LAN FOR INSTALLING A GROUNDWATER MONITORING WELL AT
260 SOUTH MAIN ST. , MANTECA, CA.
The original site map sketch prepared by Thorpe Oil , (Exhibit L)
indicated that the 2,000 gal UST, (#335,) was located 21 feet
north of the storage shed and beyond the north edge of the larger
warehouse structure. Although there are no recent surveys of the
property, the San Joaquin Co. Assessor's map shows it to be 50'
wide and 245' long on it's northern edge; (Plate 1.) A recent
survey made by a licensed surveyor revealed that the northerly
edge of the warehouse is approximately one (1) foot inside the
property line. The distance from the north side of the storage
shed to the edge of the warehouse was measured at 31 feet, which
would put the diesel UST no more than 10 feet from the property
line.
Since it was not possible to obtain permission from the owners of
the adjacent property to locate the well off site, it will be
necessary to place it between the north property line and the
site of the removed UST. This location, shown on PlatE V-11,
will be dorm gradient from the UST site, but may to less than the
desired 10 feet.
The County EHD will be notified at least 48 hours in advance of
commencement of all operations.
PROGRAM:
1: The location of the proposed monitoring well is shown on
4
