(AGE)for the above referenced site and has the following
comments.
The work plan proposes the advancement of one direct push soil probe boring to an approximate
depth of 30 feet below surface grade(bsg)in the location of the former tank pit. Soil samples will
be collected every five feet using a Geoprobe push-driven sampling device. PHS/EHD
recommends the use of continuous core sampling. Total depth of the boring will be determined in
the field, and will be based on observations and field screening of the collected samples with an
organic vapor meter. The detection of petroleum hydrocarbon contamination in the initial soil
boring will require the advancement of additional borings to delineate the lateral extent of
contaminant impact to soil. Should groundwater be encountered during this initial soil probe
work, a groundwater investigation will be required, and may begin during the same mobilization.
All samples collected are to be analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gas (TPHg), TPH as
diesel, and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylene, by approved EPA methods. In addition,
analysis for fuel oxygenates by EPA method 8260 must be performed on the collected samples.
The work plan as outlined above is approved. Please submit to PHSIEHD a boring permit
application with required $89.00 fee, a site-specific health and safety plan and a well survey that
documents the location of all domestic, industrial, municipal, agricultural and other wells within a
2000-foot radius of the site. Please note that bentonite chips are not an approved grouting
material in San Joaquin County.
If you have any questions or comments please contact Lori Duncan at(209)468-0337-
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
a
Lori Duncan, REHS Margaret Lagorio, REHS
Site Mitigation Unit IV Supervisor, Unit IV
cc: Mark List, CVRWQCS
Robert Marty, AGE
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
