TL 791-199-09 Page 6 <br /> Air Monitoring Program and Respiratory Protection: A PID will <br /> be used throughout the drilling and sampling operations to identify the <br /> presence of potentially dangerous organic vapors . Prior to drilling <br /> r operations, the equipment will be calibrated to account for organic <br /> vapors in the ambient air. <br /> Respiratory equipment with organic vapor cartridges will be worn by <br /> all field personnel if background concentrations of organic vapors is <br /> exceeded by five times for periods of greater than ten minutes . Vapors <br /> emitted from the borehole will also be monitored using a PID. <br /> f <br /> Personal Protective Equipment: It is anticipated that the level of <br /> personal protection required for this project will be U.S. EPA Level D. <br /> Personal protective equipment for each member of the drill crew will <br /> include the following items as may be required by field conditions . <br /> o Full or half face respirators equipped with pesticide/organic <br /> vapor cartridges; <br /> o Tyvek coveralls; <br /> o Neoprene rubber gloves; <br /> t o Steel-toed leather or rubber boots; <br /> o _ Safety glasses; and <br /> o Hardhats. <br /> If required, personal protective equipment shall be put on before <br /> entering the immediate work area. The sleeves of the coveralls shall be <br /> outside of the cuffs of the gloves to facilitate removal of clothing. <br /> If at any time protective clothing (coverall, boots or gloves) becomes <br /> torn, wet, or excessively soiled, it will be replaced immediately. <br /> No eating, drinking or smoking will be allowed in the vicinity of <br /> the drilling operations. The project manager will designate a separate <br /> area on-site for eating and drinking. Smoking will not be allowed at <br /> the facility except in designated areas.
