' Royal Oak Savings & Loan
510 N. Main Street, Manteca, California May 29, 1993
' Final Report and Request for Site Closure Page 2
' In August of 1990 WHF Environmental vironmental Consultants, Inc , ( VHF) was retained
' by Village Properties A work plan was submitted for the excavation of the
contaminated soil, which began on September 20, 1990, and ended on October
3, 1990 A total of 4,394 cubic yards were excavated, of which 903 cubic
' yards were contaminated The 903 cubic yards of contaminated soil was
remediated by aeration, on site, and was completed on October 3, 1990 A
small amount of soil was left in place near the street corner due to the fear of a
' cave in that might involve the streets
WHF proposed to install three (3) monitoring/extraction wells on the site
' These wells are four inch (4") wells and were installed November 12, 1990
through November 14, 1990
' MW-5, 6 and 7 were installed in December of 1990, by WHF Wells 5 and 6
showed "none detected" levels MW-7 located adjacent to Alameda Street and
' approximately 25 feet East of the contaminated soils left in place at the corner
showed elevated levels of BTX&E Minor levels of hydrocarbon contamination
were observed but not measured in soils at the 20 foot depth during well
installation of MW-7 Monitoring well number 1 was destroyed during the
subsequent soil excavation activities performed by WHF
I Wells were developed and sampled by McCain Environmental Services,
December 3, 1990, through December 5, 1990 An aquifer pump test was
performed on December 4, 1990, under the supervision of a cortified
engineering geologist
A pump test to determine the transmisivity of the aquifer was made and the
wells were developed by McCain Environmental Services The pump test was
performed and calculated by Randy Henkle, a Certified Engineering Geologist
The well development and pump test was made between December 3, 1990 and
December 5, 1990
A sampling round was conducted in February 1991 after the pump test and well
development All wells showed "none detected" in the February sampling
round A subsequent round was taken in March of 1991, and this round
showed all wells "none detected", except for Well 2, which revealed Benzene at
1.1 Micrograms (µg) per liter
IGround water gradient has been measured in several directions over the life of
. this project. These measurements show swings from southeast to east to
northeast and to the South
I
