THIRD QUARTER,2001
GROUNDWATER MONITORING REPORT
JAMAR OIL DISTRIBUTION
JANUARY 2002
Benzene was detected in samples from MW-1,MW-2, MW-3, and MW-4 at concentrations of
35,000 go, 10,000 Ag/l, 16,000 pg/l, and 5,700,ug/l,respectively MTBE was detected in
samples from MW-1,MW-2, and MW-4 at 250,000,ug/l, 450 gg/l, and 6,100 ,ugll, respectively
Toluene was detected m the sample from MW4 at 320,ugll Ethylbenzene was detected in the
sample from MW4 at 390 go Total xylenes were not detected in any of the samples collected
from the site Tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA)was detected in the sample collected from MW-5 at
a concentration of 77 ug/l 1,2 DCA was detected in the sample collected from MW4 at a
concentration of 370 pg/1 D1PE,ETBE, TAME, and EDB were non-detect in all samples taken
this quarter
Groundwater analytical data are summarized in Table 2 and shown on Figure 4 Copies of the
laboratory reports with COC documentation are included in Appendix B
CONCLUSIONS
Generally, the petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations and MTBE have remained relatively
consistent over the last two years The highest concentrations are found in the wells(MW-1 and
MW-2)in the direct vicinity of the former underground storage tanks and in the two down
gradient wells MW-3 and MW-4 1,2 DCA was detected in the sample from MW45 at a
concentration of 370 µg/1 1,2 DCA has not previously been detected at this site The extent of
impacted groundwater remains undefined at the site
GHH will continue to monitor the site on a quarterly basis with the next quarterly sampling
event scheduled for January 2002 At this time, the nearest domestic groundwater well will also
be located and sampled The Fourth Quarter Monitoring Report for 2001 will be submitted by
January 30,2002
5
