• THIRD QUARTER,2003
GROUNDWATER MONITORING REPORT
JAMAR OIL DISTRIBUTION
NOVEMBER 2003
On May 19-23, 2003 one on-site extraction well (EW-1) and two sets of off-site, clustered,
monitoring wells(MW-6A, MW-613 and MW-7A, MW-713) were installed (See Figure 2). The
monitoring wells further defined downgradient extent of impacted groundwater. An aquifer
performance test (APT)which was conducted on EW-1 on May 22, 2003.
A Sensitive Receptor Survey(SRS)was conducted during May 2003. Results of the well
installation, APT, SRS and quarterly monitoring were documented in the Second Quarter 2003
Groundwater Monitoring Report and Additional Assessment Report dated June 2003.
The County responded to the Second Quarter 2003 Groundwater Monitoring Report and
Additional Assessment Report in a letter dated August 22, 2003 (See Appendix A), concurring
with GHH's proposal to install an interim remediation system and directing that additional site -
investigation work be conducted to define the limits of MTBE impacted groundwater to the easter
of the site.
On October 22, 2003, GM submitted an Additional Assessment Workplan and on October 30,
2003, GHH submitted an Interim Groundwater Treatment System Installation Workplan. These
workplans are currently pending review and approval by the County.
SCOPE OF WORK
The following is a brief summary of the scope of work authorized by JAMAR, which consisted of
conducting third quarter groundwater monitoring on September 11, 2003.
• Locate and measure depths to groundwater in wells MW-1 through MW-5, EW-1,
MW-6A, MW-613, MW-7A, and MW-713.
• Purge a minimum of three equivalent well volumes of groundwater from each of the
wells, and monitor pH, temperature and conductivity.
ft Collect groundwater samples from all the wells.
• Analyze groundwater samples-for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH G),
benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX); 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-
DCA), ethyl dibromide (EDB), and the fuel oxygenates MTBE, TBA, DIPE, ETBE
and TAME using EPA Methods 8015 Modified and 8260B, respectively. --
• Prepare this QMR for submittal to Jamar and the appropriate regulatory agencies.
3
I
I
