a
SCOPE OF WORK
Task 1
JPCA will prepare the required drilling permits from San Joaquin
County Public Health Service, Environmental Health Division (SJC-
PHS-EHD) , complete a site workplan, a site health and safety plan
and contact U S Alert to check on placement of underground
utilities. JPCA requests that the present owner/tenant identify
any on-site utilities and underground piping that they are aware
of on the property.
Task 2
JPCA will supervise the advancing of two borings to an
approximate depth of 75 ft. or groundwater whichever is
encountered first. Two - two inch diameter monitoring wells will
be constructed so as to extend at least five feet into the
saturated zone.
7
JPCA will also supervise the advancing of a boring to an ;
approximate depth of 120 ft. or to the aquatard, if the aquatard
is encountered prior to 120 feet below grade. The soil samples
will be checked to see if contamination is still present.
if the aquatard is encountered, drilling will cease immediately,
even though the soil may still be contaminated. To continue
drilling into and through the aquatard will require official
permission from a San Joaquin County or California State Water
Board executive, in writic .
JPCA will use a C-57 licensed driller and 8-inch diameter hollow-
stem augers. Soil samples will be collected at each 5 ft level
interval or at significant changes in lithology commencing at a
depth of ten feet, using a split spoon tube sampler loaded with
pre-cleaned brass tubes. Soil samples collected in the lowest
brass liner will be preserved by covering both ends with Teflon
tape, capping with plastic capq and sealing the caps with plastic
tape. Soil samples will be labeled and logged under Chain-of-
Custody (COC) control. Soil samples will be stored in a cooler
with 'ice, transported to a state certified laboratory for
analysis with COC documentation. A maximum of 52 soil samples is
anticipated to be collected, 14 from each of the well borings and
24 from the deeper boring. The boring locations are shown on
Figure 2.
One groundwater sample will be collected from each monitoring
well, after the wells are purged and allowed to recharge. A
clean dedicated bailer will be used to obtain the samples, then
the samples will be placed in four 40 ml VOAs with Teflon septa,
labeled, held in a cooled (4 Degrees C) ice chest and transported
2
