I
Page 2
Patricia Leary BVWS Project. 4O429.6O1
February 3, 1995
sample, and the water quality goals are compound-specific, water quality
goals do not apply to TKN. Although the ammonia concentration detected in
the bench scale sample is greater than that in the upgradient sample, the
concentration is still low. The TKN concentration in the bench scale
sample is greater than that of the upgradient sample. TKN is a measure of
all of the nitrogen in the sample and, in itself, does not indicate a water
quality problem.
Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Based on the
conversations we have had to date, this is the last step in the approval
process required prior to initiating the remediation. The San Joaquin
County Public Health Services has approved the RAP and has initiated a
public notification period. We are anxious to begin the remedial action
and would appreciate your immediate attention on this project. I will
contact you the week of February 6, 1995, to discuss the permit.
i
Very truly yours,
BLACK & VEATCH Waste Science, Inc.
Sharon B.
