A
Mi
Y .
ANATEC
LABORATORIES
INC
435 Tesco,ir Circle Santa Rosa, California 95401 707-526-7200
Mr . Fred Davis August 12, 1987
-- r.,u, ANATEC Log No: 9857 (1-3)
191 Harder Road, Ste 25 Series No: 359/019
Hayward , CA 94544 Client Ref: P.O. 9140
I
Subject: ASAP Priority Analysis of Two Soil Samples Identified as
"Universal Engineers (EBMUD) , 1804 W Main St Stockton"
Received July 28 , 1987 .
Dear Mr. Davis:
Analysis of the samples referenced above has been completed. This
report is written to confirm results transmitted verbally on
July 30 , 1987 .
. The samples were delivered to the laboratory under documented
chain-of-custody. On receipt, sample custody was transferred to
ANATEC sample control personnel who subsequently documented
receipt and condition of the samples and immediately made them
available for analysis. One liquid sample ("Diesel Water
Surface") was placed on "hold" (stored, not analyzed) according to
instructions received with the sample set.
I
On July 29, 1987, the requested analytical parameters were changed
in accord with receipt of new instructions. The two soil samples
were immediately prepared for extractable hydrocarbons measure-
ments by thorough mixing and subsequent extraction with methylene
chloride; extraction, aided by sonication, was performed three
succP sive times for each sample. Extracts were then combined,
dried over sodium sulfate and concentrated in Kuderna-Danish
apparatus .
Extracts were then analyzed by capillary column gas chromatography
with flame ionization detection. Preparation and analysis of
samples was accompanied by similar treatment of a method blank and
a diesel-fortified sample. Response of the chromatographic system
to calibration standards prepared with diesel fuel was compared
with system response to samples for purposes of qualitative and
quantitative interpretation.
B101091C,11 StUdle; Laboratory Analysis Research
