PHS/EHD approves of your plan to recommence weekly
purging asan interim remediation measure. However,a modification of the sampling requirements is
included in this letter.
To assist in the calculation of mass removal, collect a groundwater sample fromtheUST cavity well and
MW 3 immediately prior to purging, following purging, and from the vacuum truck for a total of three
samples. Collect the three samples and submit them for laboratory analysis as described in your letter. Do
this every week for a period of three weeks. After analytical results have been received for three sequential
events,PHS/EHD will evaluate the data to determine if meaningful trends can be derived from the data.
The deterrumation to cease or continue sampling will be made at.that time.
If you have any questions regarding this directive, call Dot Lofstrom at(209)468-3436.
Donna Heian,Director
Enviviirroonmental Health Division
OrL
Dot Lofstrom
Unit IV Registered Geologist
cc: Marty Hartzel,CVRWQCB
Glenn Matteucci,Environmental Resolutions,Inc
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
