Although the three
existing monitoring wells at this site are dry, the groundwater
investigation must proceed, as planned, with the installation of
additional monitoring wells. These wells are needed to help define
the full horizontal and vertical extent of soil and groundwater
contamination.
As per the telephone conversation on August 19, 1991, between
PHS/EHD and USA Petroleum staff, a work plan to investigate the
full extent of contamination at the above mentioned site is to be
submitted by September 27, 1991.
If new monitoring wells are not installed in a timely manner, USA
Petroleum may again have to test those domestic wells that were
originally tested in March of 1987 in order to ensure that the
quality of water in those wells has not been adversely affected.
If there are any questions, please contact Linda Turkatte, EHS, of
my staff at (209) 468-3442.
L1LogiKhanna, M.D. , M.P.H.
Khanna,
Laurie A.
