• Drill one additional soil boring to a depth of approximately 20 feet bgs and install
a shallow vapor extraction well
• Collect soil samples at 10-foot intervals from the ground surface to 50 feet bgs
and then at 5-foot intervals to the first occurrence of groundwater Selected soil
samples will be analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) I quantitated
against gasoline and diesel standards, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total
xylenes (BTEX), and total lead using EPA methods 8015, 8020, and 7421,
respectively
• Purge and sample groundwater from each of the three installed monitoring wells
All groundwater samples will be analyzed for TPH, BTEX, and total lead using
EPA methods 8015, 8020, and 7421, respectively
• Well casings will be surveyed for relative elevation and an evaluation of the
groundwater flow direction and gradient will be conducted
• A vapor extraction treatability test will be conducted on all seven wells on site
Vapor samples will be collected and analyzed for TPH and BTEX
• A written report summarizing the findings of this investigation will be prepared
and submitted to USA and the PHS/EHD This report will include
characterization of potential impaction of soil and/or groundwater as well as
remedial alternatives (1f appropriate)
1.3 Schedule
Park anticipates beginning the work described in this workplan within 30 days of receiving
approval from the PHS/EHD Site characterization activities will be conducted within 30 days
of mobilization Submittal of a site characterization report will be within 30 days of receipt of
all data
2.0 BACKGROUND
2.1 Facility Description
The USA Petroleum service station is located on the southeast corner of the intersection of East
Mariposa Avenue and Farmington Road in Stockton, California (Figure 1) The station has four
underground storage tanks (UST's), of which three are 12,000 gallon gasoline tanks and one is
a 3,000 gallon diesel fuel tank (Figure 2) All four tanks appear to be located in the same tank
pit excavation near the front of the property
A 1t25J1 WP 2
